Dragons crush Chase for Homecoming win
WILSON — The Wilson Dragons Varsity Football Team drove for 344 yards in total offense Friday to earn a
Homecoming victory against the Chase Kats, 56-6.
The Dragons dominated the first and second quarter scoring beginning in the first with a 44 yard scamper by Cooper Weinhold for a touchdown. The two yard conversion pass by Camryn Eberhart to Garrett Thielen was good.
Eberhart then ran for a 55 yard touchdown, then added the two point conversion for Wilson.
Eberhart then completed a 10 yard pass to Donavan Lyne for a touchdown, with Thielen adding the two point conversion run.
After a Chase player fumbled the ball, Weinhold recovered and ran it into the end zone for more Dragon points. This time, however, the two point conversion attempt by Wilson’s Eberhart was no good.
In the second quarter, Eberhart once again found the end zone on a 24 yard touchdown run. The two point conversion run by Thielen was no good.
Wilson’s Weinhold then ran the ball 24 yards for a Wilson touchdown. The two point conversion run by Memphis Eberhart was no good.
In the air, Wilson was 1-4, throwing for just 10 yards compared to 55 yards for the Kats, who were 4-18 through the air.
On the ground, Wilson rushed for 334 yards, verses 29 for Chase. In the receiving department, the Dragons had one catch for 10 yards, verses four catches for 55 yards by the Kats. Wilson had just one turnover, verses
Wilson had just one turnover, verses three for Chase. Wilson also dominated the time of possession with 21:34 to 14:19 for Chase.
Defensively for Wilson, Eberhart had 5 solo tackles on the night, followed by Weinhold and Dylan Crawford each with 3, Henry Kingsbury, Donovan Lyne each with 2, and Thielen, Malachi Huck and Memphis Eberhart each with 1.
