Wilson High School junior Garrett Theilen was named Dragon Player of the Game this past week by MaxPreps following his team’s participation in the annual Tescott Tournament.

The Dragons won their first game against host Tescott, 50-34.

“Garrett had 18 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and one block. Not just a double double but a good all around game,” MaxPreps said on its sports website.

However, Theilen wasn’t the only Dragon in double digits.

Junior Camryn Eberhart contributed 15 points and senior Westin Hughes has 11. Freshmen M. Eberhart and senior Charlie Hlad each put 3 points on the scoreboard.

The Dragons stumbled in the two games that followed, losing to Sylvan-Lucas 33-45; and to Southern Cloud 43-48.

In the Sylvan-Lucas game, Hughes was the top scorer with 14 points; Theilen had 10; Eberhart, 5; and Hlad, 4.

Eberhart and Hughes each contributed single 3-pointers.

Eberhart and Hughes shared top honors in the Southern Cloud game. Both contributed 14 points apiece.

Also on the scoreboard were: Theilen and Hlad, each with 6 points and M. Eberhart with 3.

Lady Dragons

The Lady Dragons also went 1-2 in the tournament with a thrilling overtime game against Tescott to start the tournament.

Wilson defeated Tescott, 32-29.

Macy Hanzlick led the Lady Dragons with 19 points. She was followed by Cara Criswell, 6; Grace Bohnen, 5; and Sakara Jones, 2.

In the second game, Wilson fell to Sylvan-Lucas, 21-42.

Hanzlick had 12 points, Criswell, 7; and Jones, 2.

Southern Cloud defeated Wilson, 42-36, in the third game.

Bohnen led the Lady Dragons with 12 points. She was followed by Criswell, 8; Hanzlich, 7; Jones, 6; and Kylee Larsen, 3.

Tescott is a round robin tournament with each team playing three games. Southern Cloud for the girls and Sylvan-Lucas for the boys each won all of their games.

Tescott and Wilson were the other participating schools.

Wilson played at home Tuesday in a non-conference game with Palco. Results were unavailable at press time. They are scheduled to play at home again Friday, this time against Lincoln. That will be Wilson’s final game before the Christmas break. They return to the court Jan. 7 against Natoma.
