Wilson senior Camryn Eberhart racked up 33 points Friday night in the first round of Class 1A substate basketball action.

“I thought it was pretty cool, I scored a lot, no one could guard me: he said after the game.

The Dragons continued their domination over Tescott, having defeated the Trojans three times during the regular season.

“We started with defensive intensity;’ said coach Trenton Ptacek.

“We have been preaching that three games in a row, we have increased our intensity every game and that is where it starts. It all starts with heart, grit and work, so the intensity got us going.”

The team’s three seniors made the most of their night. Joining Eberhart in double digits were: Cooper Weinhold with 15 points and Garrett Thielen with 12.

Rounding out the scoring for Wilson were N. Crawford with 3 points and D. Crawford with 2.

But it was more than their skills at the basket that made Friday’s game a senior night.

Eberhart had 6 steals, Thielen plucked down 10 rebounds, and Weinhold contributed 3 steals and 6 rebounds.

The next test for the Dragons will come Friday night when Wilson plays at Wakefield against St. John’s - Tipton of Beloit. The Blujays, who bring a 10-7 record to the court, defeated Wakefield 71-52 to move on.

Wilson’s record is 9-9.

“That Beloit is tough. They have a big 6’8” guy in the middle and a couple of other shooters;’ Ptacek said. “Everyone else is dangerous. It is substate. It is anyone’s game right now.”
