CLAFLIN — On Oct. 10, the Ellsworth Lady Bearcats Volleyball team competed in a tournament at Central Plains Junior-Senior High School in Claflin.

After the tournament, the varsity squad’s record is 10-15 overall on the season, with a 5-3 record in the NCAA.

Ellsworth’s varsity squad played two matches. In the first, the Lady ‘Cats lost to Smoky Valley, 21-25 and 22-25.

In the second match, Ellsworth lost to the Lady Oilers from Central Plains, 23-25 and 21-25.

Smoky Valley also defeated Central Plains, 25-14, 25-18.

Stat leaders for the Lady ‘Cats varsity squad were:

• Kills — Shaylee Leiker, 15; Lakyn Tenbrink, 13.

• Stuff Blocks — Lakyn Tenbrink, 5; Shaylee Leiker, 2; Ednah Nichols, 2.

• Assists — Savannah Hellebust, 21; Jordi Thornton, 8.

• Ace Serves — Natalie Rolfs, 3; Jordyn Coonrod, 3; Savannah Hellebust, 3.

• Digs — Shaylee Leiker, 11; Natalie Rolfs, 9; Lakyn Tenbrink, 9; Jordyn Coonrod, 8.

The Lady ‘Cats junior varsity squad also played two matches at the tournament. In the first, Ellsworth lost to Smoky Valley, 21-25 and 6-25. In the second, Ellsworth lost the first to Central Plains, 23-25, won the second, 25-23, and lost the third, 11-15.
