The Central Plains Lady Oilers took two firstplace spots Sept. 3 in the Ellsworth High School Invitational Tennis Tournament.

Emily Ryan, who has taken second place at State for the past two years, was first in singles. She defeated Monica Hammeke of Ellinwood and Caroline Brungardt of Trego for the title.

The Central Plains No. 2 doubles team of Brynna Hammeke and Kyla Metro defeated teams from Ellsworth, Concordia and Smoky Valley of Lindsborg for the first-place finish.

Ellsworth’s No. 2 doubles team of Maggie Windholz and Nicole Haase placed second behind the Oilers. Ellsworth defeated Hutchinson Trinity and Lyons before falling to Central Plains.

Ellsworth’s No. 1 doubles team of Jaycee Cunningham and Jaide Talbott placed third. Central Plains’ No. 1 doubles team of Zoe Potter and Jennah Jeffrey placed seventh.

In other play, Ellsworth’s Hayley Sanchez placed fifth in No. 2 singles and the Lady ‘Cats’ Stephanie Soukup placed sixth in No 1 singles.
