Ellsworth, Wilson fall; Central Plains scores another win
When asked how he thought the Bearcat football team played in Friday night’s Homecoming game against the Beloit Trojans, Bradley Vopat said, “I think we showed a lot of grit, spirit, and what we really can do when we play at our best”.
Even though the ‘Cats had a tough loss, they played to their fullest the whole game. The Bearcats scored a touchdown and had a lot of outstanding plays. In the end they played their hardest and the game ended with a score of 38-7.
The Homecoming festivities started Friday with a parade and the crowning of King and Queen. The 2021 Homecoming Queen was Nicole Haase and the King was Bradley Vopat.
“I was extremely proud to stand in front of our community and everyone who has supported me throughout the years to receive this honor!” Nicole said when asked about her thoughts on being named Homecoming queen.
The ‘Cats fell to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league following Friday’s game. The next outing for Ellsworth will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Norton , which is 2-2 overall.
Central Plains also celebrated Homecoming Friday; however, the evening ended a little better for them on the football field. The Oilers defeated Chase 58-6 with 28 points in the first quarter and another 30 points by halftime.
Crowned King and Queen were Dawson McNeal and Riley Thompson. Central Plains, which is 3-1 for the season, will play Victoria at 7 p.m. Friday at Victoria.
