HOISINGTON — The Ellsworth and Central Plains High School boys’ golf teams opened their seasons Thursday, April 4, at the Hoisington Invitational Tournament.

The Bearcats shot a 413 and finished in sixth place. WaKeeney-Trego won the team title with a 367. The Oilers competed individually and did not have a team score.

Central Plains had two medalists, Alex Hickel, who shot a 72, in second place, and Brett Thompson, who finished with a 90. Thompson finished in fifth place.

Avery Haxton was the top golfer for Ellsworth and finished the day with an 89. Haxton took fourth place.

Other Bearcats competing were Parker McGowan with 107, Hayden Rogers with 108 and Sam Farthing with 109.
