ELLIS — The Ellsworth Lady ‘Cats defeated Ellis 12-0 Tuesday, March 26 in softball action, as pitchers Brenna Pruitt and Lizzy Hipp combined for a shutout.

In the first inning, the Bearcats scored three runs on a Jaide Talbott single.

Later in the game, Hipp hit a home run in the sixth inning.

At their next at bat, Ellsworth put up four runs in the seventh inning, including walks by Sierra Kraatz and Natalie Rolfs and a single from Talbott.

Pruitt was the winning pitcher on the day, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 players in a little more than six innings. Hipp threw two-thirds of an inning, getting a strike out for the win.

Players Courtney Wise, Kraatz and Talbott each racked up multiple hits for Ellsworth. Wise led the Lady ‘Cats with 11 plays and three stolen bases.

In the second game, the Lady ‘Cats defeated Ellis in another shutout, winning 16-0.

Ellsworth locked in the win thanks to 10 runs in the sixth inning. Courtney Wise, Lizzy Hipp, Sierra Kraatz, Natalie Rolfs, Sara Klein and Sydney Wilson all contributed with RBIs.

Ellsworth scored in the first inning, when Brenna Pruitt doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Pruitt got the win for Ellsworth, allowing one hit over five innings, and striking out seven batters.

Tully relieved Pruitt by pitching one inning. Pruitt and Wise each had multiple hits, with Pruitt going 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Lady ‘Cats.
