Lady ‘Cats go 1-4 at Ellsworth Invitational Volleyball Tourney
Central Plains Lady Oilers battle to 3-2 record at Ellsworth competition
The Ellsworth High School Lady Bearcats Varsity Volleyball team’s overall record went to 3-6 (2-0 in the NCAA) Saturday after a series of games against Central Plains, Ellinwood, Sacred Heart, Republic County and Nickerson during the Ellsworth Invitational Varsity Round Robin Volleyball Tournament.
Ellsworth split a series of three games against the Lady Oilers of Central Plains High School. The Lady Bearcats won the first, 25-18, lost the second, 19-25 and the third, 26-28.
Ellsworth then lost two games against Ellinwood, 14-25 and 16-25.
The Lady Bearcats also split a series of three games against Sacred Heart. Ellsworth won the first 25-14, but lost the remaining two games 14-25 and 15-25.
Ellsworth was victorious in two games against Republic County, 25-23 and 25-21.
The Lady Bearcats then lost a pair of games to Nickerson, 14-25 and 24-26.
As for Central Plains, after defeating Ellsworth, the Lady Oilers went on to defeat Republic County, 21-25, 26-24 and 26-24. The Lady Oilers lost to Nickerson 25-17, 23-25 and 18-25. Central Plains also lost to Ellinwood 17-25 and 24-25. The Lady O’s bounced back to win against Sacred Heart 25-15, 16-25 and 27-25.
Overall, Ellsworth finished 1-4 in the tournament, while Central Plains went 3-2. Nickerson placed first in the tournament with a 5-0 record, while Ellinwood placed second with a 4-1 record.
