The Ellsworth Lady Bearcats competed against the Southeast of Saline Trojans Oct. 15. The ‘Cats defeated the Trojans in both matches, 25-10, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-20.

The wins improved the Bearcats’ record and gave them some momentum.

Senior leader Savannah Hellebust said,“I think these wins really helped us with our confidence going into the end of our season.”

The Lady ‘Cats junior varsity and C-team both fell to the Trojans. The JV scores were 11-25 and 20-25 in the first match; and 23-25 and 23-25 in the second. The C-team scores were 25-6, 26-28, and 15-17 in the first match; and 24-26, 25,18, and 8-15 in the second.

Tri Meet

The Ellsworth Lady ‘Cats hosted a Tri Meet Oct. 17 against Hutch Trinity and Hoisington. The Ellsworth varsity squad went 1-1 on the night.

The ‘Cats lost to Hutch Trinity to begin the night, 25-18, 18-25, and 18-25. Ellsworth then beat Hoisington in the final match of the night, 25-16, 22-25, and 25-17.

The Ellsworth Junior Varsity team went winless for the night, losing to Hoisington 10-25 and 15-25; and losing to Hutch Trinity 15-25 and 7-25.

Abilene Tourney

The Ellsworth Bearcats varsity squad traveled to Abilene Oct. 19 to compete in a tournament. The ‘Cats finished with a 5th place finish, going 2-2 for the day.

Ellsworth began the morning with two losses, against Abilene and Smoky Valley. The scores for the Abilene match were 18-25 and 30-32; and the scores for the Smoky Valley match were 10-25 and 18-25.

The Lady ‘Cats finished strong with two hard-fought wins against Salina Central and Rossville. Ellsworth defeated Salina Central 22-25, 28-26, and 25-17; and Rossville 25-21, 12-25, and 25-22.
