PRAIRIE VILLAGE — The Central Plains Lady Oilers tennis team placed second overall in Class 3-2-1A state competition Oct. 18-19 in Prairie Village. Ellsworth placed fifth.

Individually, Emily Ryan of Central Plains placed second — falling for the third year to KC Christian’s Lilly McNeill, who won her third straight singles title.

McNeil, who has won 95 percent of her games over the past three years, lost only one game in four matches this past weekend — and that was to Ryan.

KC Christian won its third straight team championship with 40 points — three more than Central Plains.

In doubles play, Zoe Potter and Jennah Jeffrey of Central Plains placed fourth, with Brynna Hammeke and Kyla Metro of Central Plains, fifth.

Also in doubles play, Ellsworth’s Jaycee Cunningham and Jaide Talbott placed sixth, with the team of Maggie Windholz and Nicole Haase also of Ellsworth, 10th.
