Oilers’ Peyton Ryan first in No.1 Singles
Central Plains High School’s No. 1 Singles player, Peyton Ryan, took first in his division April 14 during the Ellsworth High School Tennis Invitational in Ellsworth.
Ryan beat his opponent from Fairfield in the first round, then beat Hoisington and Wichita Classical to take the top spot for the Oilers.
Ellsworth High School No. 1 Singles player Rudhra Bhakta lost matches to Hoisington, Fairfield and Hoisington to take eighth place for the Bearcats.
In No. 2 Singles, Ellsworth’s Kyle Holbrook placed fourth in his division with a victory over Sterling, but a loss to Wichita Classical.
The Ellsworth No. 1 Singles player, Tyler Connally, took seventh after losing to Wichita Classical and Sterling but having a bye in the third match.
In No. 1 Doubles, the team of Brendan Anderson and Chase Bourbon from Ellsworth placed second, with a victory over Concordia followed by a loss to Wichita Classical in the finals.
For Central Plains, the No. 1 Doubles team of Paxton Dody and Eli Hurley beat Abilene, then lost to Concordia and finished with a bye to take seventh place.
In No. 2 Doubles, the team of Isiah Jenson and Nethan Cauthon of Central Plains placed third after beating Sterling, losing to Abilene, and beating Concordia.
Overall, Central Plains placed third as a team in the tournament; the Bearcats tied for fifth with Concordia.
