Oilers coast through first games of substate basketball

The Central Plains boys defeated Centre-Lost Springs at Peabody Friday in the first game of the 1A substate quarter finals.

The Oilers outscored Centre in all four quarters to win 72-48.

Senior Tyler Holmes led Central Plains in scoring with 18 points, including 6 from free throws. Also in double digits was senior Dylan Kitchen with 14 points and freshman Peyton Ryan with 11 points, two of them from 3-pointers.

Also contributing to the Oilers total were seniors Jacob Oberle with 9 points and Karter Beck with 8. Each player contributed a single 3-pointer to the effort.

Also on the score board were juniors Cole Lamatsch and Dawson McNeal, both with 2 points.

The win put the Oilers at 5-15 for the years. Centre finished the season 0-17.

Central Plains plays Peabody Friday night.

The Lady Oilers, who received a first round bye, play today (Thursday, March 4) at Peabody against the Hartford Lady Jaguars. Hartford defeated Burrton, 36-31, in the first game and is 4-17.

The Lady Oilers go into post season play with a record of 17-3.
