Oilers split two games

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains High School Oilers Boys and Girls Basketball teams split a pair with the Hoisington Cardinals during games played Dec. 4 in Claflin. Here is a brief rundown of the action:

Oilers Boys

The CPHS Boys Basketball team was dominated by the Cardinals on the court, with Central Plains losing to the Cardinals 83-33.

Oiler Tyler Holmes led the scoring effort for Central Plains with nine points, including four two-point shots. He was followed by Karter Beck with five points, including two two-point shots and Cole Lamatsch with two points.

Next up for the Oilers is a Tuesday, Dec. 8 game at Smith Center.

Oilers Girls

The CPHS Lady Oilers Girls Basketball team was able to avenge the Boy’s loss to the Cardinals by defeating Hoisington 55-25.

Leading the scoring for Central Plains was Brynna Hammeke with 24 points, including two two-point shots and three three-point shots. Next high scorer for the Lady Oilers was Kassidy Nixon and Jennah Jeffrey, each with nine points, and Lexie Oeser, with six points.

Next up for the Lady Oilers is a 6 p.m. game against Ellinwood on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
