Ellsworth freshman Kylan Turnipseed set a school record for javelin throwing April 30 at the Beloit Relays.

She sent the javelin 116 feet, earning her a second place overall.

“We just got the new javelin she set the record with on Wednesday so she really has only thrown it a handful of times. She will reset this record again later,” predicted coach Nick Rodriguez.

Here are students who placed in the Top 6 at Beloit:

Women:

Javelin — 2nd, Kylan Turnipseed 116’0” New School Record

Men:

4 x 100m Relay — 4th, Bradley Vopat II, Trey Anderson, Riley Stone, Luke Sharp 45.05

3200m Run — 5th, Byron Johnson 11:14.00

200m Dash — 4th, Trey Anderson 23.27, 5th Luke Sharp 23.49

100m Dash — 2nd, Luke Sharp 11.49

Said Coach Rodriguez, “Byron Johnson had a PR in the 3200m run and placed 5th. Trey and Luke both made the finals in the 100 and 200 Dashes. Our 4x1 had their best time of the season but I felt like our handoffs can be even better. Anything can happen in that relay and usually does! So we have to keep working at getting better there.”

Here are the Top 6 at Hoisington:

Women:

High Jump — 2nd, Katelyn Soukup 4-8 ¼

Pole Vault — 4th, Kate Wacker 7’6”

Shot Put — 2nd, Rylan Ohl 29’ 5 ½”

Discus — 6th, Rylan Ohl 77’6”

Javelin — 2nd, Kylan Turnipseed 102’ 2”, 3rd Rylan Ohl 100’ 4 ½”

Men

100m Dash — 2nd, Luke Sharp 11.30, 3rd Trey Anderson 11.46

200m Dash — 2nd, Trey Anderson 23.23

400m Dash —3rd, Riley Stone 55.79 1600m Run — 6th, Joshua Rodriguez

1600m Run — 6th, Joshua Rodriguez 5:08.97

4x100m Relay — 2nd, Bradley Vopat II, Trey Anderson, Riley Stone, Luke Sharp 45.21

4x400m Relay — 5th, Bradley Vopat II, Josh Rodriguez, Ian Andalon, Byron Johnson 4:09.12

Said Coach Rodriguez: “We usually do not take the entire team to this meet as we try to prepare for the Beloit Relays but we needed to get the 4x1 relay into some race situations and our throwers just need to get some reps in.

“It actually was probably the best night weather wise so far.

“We saw some good results from our throwers. Rylan had three solid performances in all her events. Katelyn Soukup had a really great day in the high jump.

“ Our upper classmen sprinters continue to score and place well. Across the board we had some PR’s and that is progress.

“We just have to be more consistent throughout the rest of the season.”
