“Weather was cold and windy and when you have a day like Thursday you

really hope that you get out and just compete as best you can as a team and get out of the day with no one getting injured — which we had a couple of kids come up with some issues at the end of the day,” Ellsworth track coach Nick Rodriguez said.

“The warm-up is key on Thursday and once the running events started the meet really moved quickly. Our field event girls continue to pick up points. “Kylan was our lone 1st place finisher

“Kylan was our lone 1st place finisher on the day with a winning throw in the Javelin. Kate Wacker picked up a 3rd in the Pole Vault and Katelyn Soukup competed well in the high jump.

“The Boys 4x1 ran a good relay. Trey Anderson ran well in the 100m and 200m although in the 100 he didn’t have a great start. Luke ran a good 100m dash race with a solid run. We also picked up some points in the boy’s distance runs with Byron and Josh.

“A couple of last-minute team additions included Scott City and Concordia so that added a little more to the overall competition. Teams are really struggling to get meets in with the weather this year.”

The next meet is Tuesday’s Hoisington Invitational. Regional is May 21.
