Wilson wins big, 60-28; Bearcats fall in heartbreaker; Central Plains loses, 6-56

The Bearcats traveled to Norton Friday to take on the Bluejays. The boys came out fired up and ready to play. Senior Dayton Davis had two touchdowns to start the Cats’ up.

Will Cravens also had an interception. The Cats’ fought really hard and started the fourth quarter with a lead 20-18 that they kept till the final two minutes of the fourth quarter when the Bluejays kicked a field goal and ended the game a 20-21 win for Norton. The Cats’ really played like a team this Friday, keeping each other together through the whole game.

The Bearcats are at home Friday against the Hoisington Cardinals. Game time is 7 p.m. at Shanelec Football Field.

In their 60-28 victory against Chase, the Wilson Dragons were 12 of 17 for 179 yards and no interceptions in the passing department. They rushed for 475 yards, including a 100-yard run. Dragon receivers gained 179 yards for the win.

Wilson is home against Victoria at 7 p.m. Friday.

Coach Chris Steiner and his Central Plains Junior-Senior High School Oilers varsity football team took a hard one on the chin Oct. 1 at Victoria, going down in defeat to the Knights, 6-56.

In the first half, the Oilers gained just one rushing yard against the Knights and had two fumbles.

In the air, Central Plains had 43 passing yards, but no interceptions.

On the other side of the ball, Victoria had 185 rushing yards in the first half against Central Plains, and two fumbles. The Knights had 129 yards in the air and zero interceptions.

In the second half, the Oilers had 15 rushing yards and two fumbles. The passing dried up with zero passing yards and no interceptions.

Victoria had 85 rushing yards in the second half, and three fumbles. In the air, the Knights threw for 50 yards and had no interceptions.

On the defensive side of the ball, Cole Lamatsch of Central Plains had 11 unassisted tackles, two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble. Oiler Joseph Bunch had five unassisted tackles, two assisted tackles and a fumble recovery. Eli Hurley had four unassisted tackles and three assisted tackles. Hunter Klima had three unassisted tackles and three assisted tackles. Hunter Green had five unassisted tackles and one assisted tackle, Blaine Hickel had three unassisted tackles and one assisted tackle. Dawson McNea had three unassisted tackles and four assisted tackles. And Oiler Evan Stratmann had one unassisted tackle and two assisted tackles.

Next up for the Central Plains Oilers is a Friday, Oct. 8, home conference game against Sylvan-Lucas. The game begins at 7 p.m.
