Michael Wayne Peck (1971-2026)

Peck

Michael Wayne Peck, 54, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Michael was born on Nov. 1, 1971, in Kansas City, Mo., to Claudette “Sandra” Kraus (formerly Peck) and Anthony W. Peck. He graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, Kan., in May 1990 and proudly served as a sergeant and armored crewman in the U.S. Army for four years and subsequently served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He received two Army Commendation medals and three Army Achievement medals, along with a number of other awards and commendations through his service.

Michael graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1998 and a Master of Science degree in health and human performance in 2000. As a true sports fan, he thoroughly enjoyed the many years he worked as an athletic trainer at Centenary College in Shreveport, La. Michael then moved to Sierra Vista and worked as a member of the physical therapy team at the Military Intelligence Student Clinic as well as the Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center at Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista for 13 years. He truly loved working with the soldiers and his colleagues at the clinics and was always checking to be sure everyone was taken care of and sharing old Army or patient care stories.

Michael is survived by his siblings, Shelby (Nannette) Peck, Plaquemine, La.; Terri (Paul) Purdum, Topeka, Kan.; and Natalie Peck (Colin Read), Plattsburgh, N.Y.; stepfather Robert Kraus, Wilson, Kan.; step-brothers Roger Kraus, Tonganoxie, Kan., and Tim Kraus, Wilson; along with multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a wonderful community of friends and colleagues in Sierra Vista.

He is predeceased by Claudette Sandra Kraus (mother), Anthony W. Peck (father), Thomas Anthony Peck (brother) and Jason Peck (nephew).

Michael will always be the little brother our parents found in the trash bin — no, not really, but we loved to tease him with that. He will forever be remembered as our beloved little brother, a valued and caring colleague and a devoted and true friend. We will miss him always.
