Rosalie Joyce Splitter (1947-2026)
Rosalie Joyce Splitter, 79, passed away Jan. 15, 2026, in Athens, Ga. She was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Ellsworth, Kan., to L. Vernon and Melva (Janssen) Splitter.
Rosalie was a graduate of Lorraine High School and earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Kansas State University. She also pursued doctoral studies at the University of Tennessee. She dedicated her professional life to education, serving as a professor of clothing and textiles at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., and at the University of Georgia, Athens.
Rosalie had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, caring for cats, gourmet cooking and sharing coffee with others. She also had a passion for collecting and preserving her family’s history.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Melvin Splitter; sister Clarissa Pound; and brother-in-law Larry Pound.
Rosalie is survived by her sister-in-law Janet L. Splitter and her nieces and nephews Lisa Pound, Dean Pound, Karl Pound, Elizabeth Lansdowne and Matthew M. Splitter.
A family graveside service was held March 23, 2026, at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Lorraine, Kan.
