William J. “Bill” Miller “Billy Ray,” 63, died Jan. 15, 2023, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, after an almost three-year courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 28, 1959, in Hoisington, Kan., the son of Robert J. and Elizabeth “June” (Seymour) Miller.

Theodore “Ted” Soukup (1960-2023)

Theodore “Ted” Soukup of Wilson, Kan., passed away on Jan. 6, 2023, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., at the age of 62. He was born on Sept. 25, 1960, to Elroy and Marilyn (Vanek) Soukup in Ellsworth, Kan.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at 10 a.m.

Anna Margaret (Nelson) Monroe (1924-2023)

Anna Margaret (Nelson) Monroe, 98, passed away Jan. 12, 2023. She was born Oct. 22, 1924, in a sod house located in Kit Carson, Colo., the daughter of Elmer and Ethel (Blystone) Nelson. Anna was raised during the Dust Bowl in the tiny town of Kanorado, Kan.

Melvin D. Haverfield Jr. (1950-2022)

Melvin D. Haverfield Jr., 72, passed away Dec. 6, 2022, in Brookville, Kan. He was born on Feb. 17, 1950, in Lyons, Kan., to Melvin Sr. and Bessie (Gustus) Haverfield.Melvin retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He then was the business owner of Dallas Liquor in Salina, Kan.

Donald C. Bush (1928-2023)

Donald C. Bush of Emporia, Kan., went to be with his wife Norma on their 73rd wedding anniversary on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Emporia Place in Emporia. He was 94.Don was born on Nov. 10, 1928, in Wilson, Kan., the son of Eugen Lester and Elizabeth Borman Bush.

Marie Emelia Woodmansee (1925-2023)

Marie Emelia Woodmansee, 97, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, in Ellsworth. She was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Ellsworth County to Frederick and Wilhelmina (Bohl) Eilrich.

Judith “Judy” K. Munson (1943-2023)

(1943-2023)Judith “Judy” K. Munson, 79, of Junction City, passed away Jan. 7, 2023, while in Hospice Care at Chapman Valley Manor. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, from 5-6 p.m. with Celebration of Life to follow at 6 p.m.

Jozet Fawn Littrell (1956-2023)

Jozet Fawn Littrell, 66, died Jan. 7, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kan. She was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Hoisington, Kan., the daughter of Leon L. and Bertha Mae (Kunze) Martin.  Jozet was a 1974 graduate of Hoisington High School.

Frederick W. “Bill” Beckmeyer (1930-2023)

Frederick W. “Bill” Beckmeyer, of Salina, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. He was born in Medford, Okla., on Jan. 19, 1930, to Fred and Irene (Sheeran) Beckmeyer.Bill graduated from Chapman, Kan., High School in 1948, where he was involved in various sports.

Nicholas Munoz, 86, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, in Ellsworth, Kan. He was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Jesus and Maria (Mendez) Munoz.Nicholas married his first wife Patricia Parrish, June 14, 1958, in Kanopolis, Kan. He later married Crystal A. Soukup, Jan.
