After having to cancel the 2020 Annual Bailey Family Reunion (due to COVID), the descendants of Martin Luther and Annetta (Livingston) Bailey were able to gather June 13, 2021 at the Ellsworth Senior Center for the annual Bailey Family Reunion.

It was a regular meeting of the USD 327 Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo school board, yet it also was a time for goodbye. During Monday night’s meeting at the district office, board member Peggy Svaty recognized Superintendent Dale Brungardt who was attending his last meeting as superintendent.

Budget talk dominates Ellsworth County commission meeting

Budget requests for 2022 were once again on the agenda during Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners. Stacie Schmidt, executive director of the Ellsworth County Economic Development, requested $75,000 for 2022. That is a 15 percent increase from the $65,000 she received for 2021.

Candidates seek seats on local councils

As of the noon Tuesday, June 1, deadline, several candidates had officially filed for election to open seats on the Ellsworth County’s two school boards and five city councils. The names of these candidates will be on the Tuesday, Nov. 2, general election ballot.
