Sunday liquor sales approved

Starting in a little more than two months, liquor will be available in Ellsworth for purchase on Sundays. The Ellsworth City Council, with a no vote from council member Wayne Scritchfield, approved the sale Monday night at its regular meeting.

Patrons raise concerns about no-touch thermometers safety

A brief update regarding concerns raised by patrons over no-touch thermometers was given at the Sept. 8 meeting of the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo USD 327 board of education. The district uses the devices to measure temperatures.

USD 112 sells building to Bushton

CLAFLIN — By a unanimous 7-0 vote Monday, the Central Plains USD 112 board of education agreed to sell the former Central Plains Middle School building at Bushton to the City of Bushton for $26,460. The vote was met with jeers from several patrons in attendance.

A request from Vyve Broadband to switch the security on computers at the Ellsworth County Noxious Weed Department from Wilson A Communications to Vyve Broadband was denied during Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth county commissioners.

Ellsworth man sentenced in child sex case

An Ellsworth man has been sentenced to more than 40 years in prison for convictions on four child sex-crime related charges, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

For Sale: Former Central Plains Middle School

HOLYROOD — The former Central Plains Middle School building in Bushton will be put up for sale by sealed bids. That was unanimous decision members of the Central Plains USD 112 board of education approved during an Aug. 25 special meeting in Holyrood. The bids are to be submitted by 1 p.m.
