Coonrod named DAR Good Citizen of Year

Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School senior Jordyn Coonrod is the 2020 recipient of the Smoky Hill Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution Good Citizen scholarship. Coonrod is the daughter of Eric and Stephanie Coonrod.

The Ellsworth County District Court has a new clerk. Kristy Vattershell of Lyons introduced herself at Monday’s meeting of the county commissioners. Vattershell succeeds longtime clerk Peggy Svaty, who resigned recently to run for county magistrate judge.

WILSON — Wilson’s longtime city judge, Darrell Thrasher, was recognized for his many years of service Monday during a meeting of the Wilson City Council. Thrasher retired May 31 after serving since August 1991. “I enjoyed every bit of it,” Thrasher said.
