Jerry Dean Rush

(1955-2026)

Jerry Dean Rush, 70, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026. He was born Sept. 15, 1955, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Kermit and Darlene (Handlin) Rush. Jerry was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County where he was a farmer and rancher. He married Fonda Shively in Ellsworth on Oct. 24, 1981.

Jerry is survived by his wife Fonda, rural Geneseo; sons Brian Rush (Tara), rural Geneseo, and Justin Rush (Michaela), Lenexa, Kan.; grandchildren Ethan (Latasha) Steinbruck, Breckyn, Kaine and Kale Rush and Maya and Marley Rush; great-grandchildren Becklyn, Lorelai and Luke; parents Kermit and Darlene Rush; sisters Dana Sutton, Slinger, Wis.; Beth Wagner, Ellsworth; and Tracy Wacker (Todd), Ellsworth; brother-in-law Leslie Shively, Kanopolis; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mick and Faye Rush; maternal grandparents Herman and Agnes Handlin; brothers-in-law, Robert Sutton and Paul Wagner; and brother-in-law Jeffrey Freeman and his wife JoEllen.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 6-8 p.m. to greet visitors.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at Parsons Funeral Home, with burial following at Buckeye Cemetery.
