(1965-2026)
Robert A. “Bob” Bohata, 60, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, in Salina, Kan. He was born July 22, 1965, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Emil and Ruth “Jody” (Fletcher) Bohata. Bob was a longtime resident of Ellsworth County, Kan., where he was a member of Boy Scouts Troop 84, an organization that allowed him to develop his talents and interests. He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and went on to earn degrees from Kansas Wesleyan University and Fort Hays State University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorraine. As an adult, Bob played the organ at many area churches. He also enjoyed botany and owned several rare plants.
Bob is survived by his sister, Ruth Penner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; nieces Michelle Swanson (Ian), Faribault, Minn., and Roxanne Hiede (Daniel) and their son Samuel, Niverville, Manitoba, Canada; and nephew Brian Penner, Blumenort, Manitoba, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Martin Penner.
A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Lorraine First Baptist Church, with burial following at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service at the church with family present to greet visitors.
