Curbside recycling to end Friday, Oct. 1

Residential curbside recycling pickup in Ellsworth will end Friday, Oct. 1.That was the update Chris Behrens of CB Trucking and Services LLC in Beverly gave during a Sept. 24 telephone interview with the Independent-Reporter.“I’ve had a lot of phone calls,” Behrens said.

COVID-19 by the numbers

As of Monday, Ellsworth County had 18 active cases of COVID-19. On a scale with blue as the lowest and red the highest, Ellsworth County is in the orange zone, according to the local health department.

Wilson City

The 2020 Census numbers provided good news for the City of Wilson. The 2020 number of residents is 859, which is an increase of 78 over the 2010 census numbers. According to City Clerk Susan Kriley, Wilson is the only city in Ellsworth County to experience an increase.

County reports 12 active COVID cases

As of Monday morning, Ellsworth County had 12 active cases of COVID-19.That was the beginning of an update on the virus the Ellsworth County commissioners received from Kerianne Ehrlich, county health department supervisor, and Dr. Ronald Whitmer, county health officer.

USD 112 adopts virus protocols

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains USD 112 board of education has adopted a set of COVID-19 protocols for the 2021-22 school year.
