The state board overseeing emergency medical services moved Friday to allow workers above a certain level of EMS certification to aid in the administration of any COVID-19 vaccine for the next 12 months.

Superintendent Dale Brungardt told board members of the EllsworthKanopolis-Geneseo School District Monday night he sees a light at the end of the tunnel as far as the coronavirus pandemic.

WILSON — The Wilson City Council has a new member. Dan Taylor, husband of former council member Lori Taylor, was appointed by Mayor Mike Peschka Monday during a regular meeting of the council and sworn into office. He made no comment on his appointment to the council.

The Kanopolis City Council has approved the Ellsworth County mask mandate. During a Nov. 25 special meeting, council members approved the mandate after Mayor Anthony Hopkins said he received a note from city attorney Patrick Hoffman explaining the measures the city could take regarding the mandate.

For the second week in a row, the Ellsworth County commissioners stood firm Monday on the face mask mandate they approved Nov. 9. “I would be in favor of it, said Commissioner Kermit Rush. “I think we’d better,” added Commissioner Dennis Rolfs.

KANOPOLIS — Tom Wilkinson is the newest member of the Kanopolis City Council. At the Nov. 10 meeting, he was sworein to succeed Matt Munoz, who recently resigned. In other business: • The time of the Kanopolis City Council meeting was changed to 5:30 p.m. from 7 p.m.
