For Sale: Former Central Plains Middle School

HOLYROOD — The former Central Plains Middle School building in Bushton will be put up for sale by sealed bids. That was unanimous decision members of the Central Plains USD 112 board of education approved during an Aug. 25 special meeting in Holyrood. The bids are to be submitted by 1 p.m.

HOLYROOD — While there appears to be interest in the former Central Plains Middle School building at Bushton, USD 112 Board of Education members resisted the urge to move forward during the board’s Aug. 10 meeting and instead decided to wait to consult with their attorney.

Lorraine council discusses animal ordinance

LORRAINE — Discussion of a proposed undomesticated animal ordinance took center stage at the July 21 meeting of the Lorraine City Council. Council member Cassy Vedder said she looked at guidelines from Kansas State University. She suggested the council add regulations about cleaning up manure.

COVID exposure leads to football debate

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, commissioner Kermit Rush asked Kerianne Ehrlich, supervisor of the county health department, the status of the Ellsworth High School football team after hearing a report regarding a student athlete having COVID-19.

WILSON — After a 20-minute executive session Monday to discuss the acquisition of real property, the Wilson City Council approved offering Dan Erdman of Picture Rocks Inc. $12,840 for the former Otasco building at 2504 Ave. E.

Central Plains - USD 112 mill levy flat

HOLYROOD — Taxpayers in the Central Plains USD 112 School District shouldn’t notice much of an increase in property taxes this year despite school officials seeing a dip in taxable property values.
