Organizers plan limited 4-H Fair

Brent Goss, president of the Ellsworth County Fair Association, briefed Ellsworth County Commissioners Tuesday, May 26, on the plan for this year’s fair. “We’re kind of looking at options,” Goss said.

Local government entities to apply for business funds

Applications for money from the Kansas Department of Commerce Economic Development Community Development Block Grant CV (COVID-19 related) program were approved May 27 by the Wilson City Council, Ellsworth County commissioners, and the Ellsworth City Council.

Wilson Communications names award winners

In 1984 Wilson Communications started awarding scholarships to graduating seniors from all of their exchanges. Over the past 36 years Wilson Communications has selected 340 scholarship recipients and awarded $153,650. This year, Wilson Communications awarded 10, $500 scholarships.

ECMC to allow one visitor

Andrew Bair, chief executive officer of the Ellsworth County Medical Center, had good news at the May 28 meeting of the county’s local emergency planning committee. As of June 1, the hospital will start allowing one visitor, family, per patient on the inpatient side.

Barton College offers music lessons

GREAT BEND — The Barton Community College Department of music will offer instrumental music lessons to the community this summer from now through July 23. Community members are invited to take lessons to learn a new instrument or enhance their abilities on an instrument they already play.

Commission race tops election 2020

Ellsworth voters will have their choice between two candidates to fill the county commission seat of retiring long-time official Kermit Rush. Ellsworth residents Patrick Hoffman and Greg Bender will be on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. Both have lived most of their lives in Ellsworth.
