The Ellsworth Swimming Pool will open sometime during the week of June 15 and practice for softball and baseball will start June 15, with games beginning at the end of June or the first of July. This all is subject to change, of course, depending upon what happens locally with COVID-19.

Officials bury the hatchet after dust up

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, unanimous approval was given to extend Keith Haberer’s contract as emergency management director for Ellsworth and Russell counties for another four years. Russell County commissioners approved the contract earlier Monday.

Man charged with four felony counts in child rape case

A four-count felony criminal complaint was filed May 12 in Ellsworth County District Court by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Assistant Attorney General Melissa Johnson charging a man in relation to a child rape investigation in Ellsworth County.
