Darrell D. Vaughan of Kansas City, Kan., lost his battle with Huntington’s Disease, Sunday, July 24, 2022, in his Lorraine, Kan. home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora and Pete; sister Carolyn; and brother Gene.

Irene Catherine Mattas passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson, Kan. at the age of 93. She was born on March 17, 1929, in Odin, Kan. to Joseph and Mary (Lamatsch) Demel, she was the last surviving of 13 siblings.

Gabriel Adam Martinez, 43, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kan. He was born on Jan. 11, 1979, in Topeka, Kan.Gabriel is survived by his mother DaMaris Schepmann, his brother Phil Mareu (Bailey) and his brother Matthew Martinez.

Mark R. Bennett, 51, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday July 20, 2022, in Salina. He was born April 8, 1971, in St. Louis, Mo. He spent his childhood in Ellsworth, where he graduated from Ellsworth High School.

Cheryl Urbanek, 79, of Colby, died Monday, July 18, 2022, in Colby. She was born Sept. 19, 1943, in Stafford, Kan., to Howard and Verda (Staley) Jimison. She graduated from Lorraine High School in 1961 and on Oct. 17, 1964, she married James Urbanek.

William Henry Shepherd November 8, 1932 – July 10, 2022William (Bill) Henry Shepherd was proud to share he was born the day FDR was elected to his first term, Nov. 8, 1932, on a farm near Sylvia, Kan. to Marion and Clara (Lawrence) Shepherd.

Sherry Jo Novotny was born May 30, 1952, in Abilene, the daughter of Kenneth and Muriel “Butch” (George) Cain. She graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1971.Sherry was united in marriage to Stuart Novotny on Aug. 6, 1971, in Abilene.

Sue Renee Buchanan of Ellsworth, passed away July 3, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center.Sue was born Feb. 17, 1956, the daughter of Guy and Roberta Buchanan, Little River, Kan. She was diagnosed at a young age with cerebral palsy and lived at home, Winfield (Kan.

Autumn Elaine Budreau, infant daughter of Ashley Woods and Kyle Budreau of Lincoln, blessed this world with her angel presence on July 7, 2022.

Bruce H. Shiffer, 75, of Monticello, Ill., formerly of Ellsworth, passed away June 22, 2022, at his residence.Bruce was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Aurora, Ill., the son of Stanley and JoAnne (Thout) Shiffer. He married Janice Kirkland on Jan. 13, 1973 in Monticello, Ill.
