Wilma Mall, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Ellsworth. Born Florence Wilma Knox Jan. 12, 1931 in Talmage, Kan., she was the second daughter to Harry L. “Curly” Knox and Ellen M. “Jim” (Roberts) Knox.

Audrey “Audie” B. Magaña, 64, of Junction City, Kan., passed away March 16, 2021. Audie was born in Ellsworth, Kan., to Jesús “Jesse” and Diana Magaña. He grew up in rural Ellsworth County and helped with the family farm and ranching operations.

Dee Richard Holecek, 91, of Russell, Kan. and formerly of Ellsworth, Kan., passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Homestead Assisted Living in Russell. Richard’s surviving family include his wife of 70 years, Virginia of the home; daughters, Debbie Kaupp (Lynn) of Barboursville, W.

Doloris M. Podlena, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in Ellsworth, Kan. She was born April 9, 1930 in Ellsworth to Herman and Frieda (Frohreich) Voeltz.

Mary Ellen Brownback passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the age of 87, in Ellsworth Kan. Ellen was born in Hume, Mo.  Aug. 3, 1933 to William Jesse and Susie (Davis) Adams. After graduating from Hume High School, she met the love of her life, Gene Brownback, and they were married July 22, 1951.

Diane E. (Dowling) Arning, 76, of Bleiblerville, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at home with family by her side. She was born Oct. 17, 1944, in Salina, Kan. to Edgar and Marcia (Norris) Dowling.

Arvetta Marie Karst, 97, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2022, in Lyons, Kan. She was born Oct. 31, 1923, the oldest of four children, to Oscar and Marie Ninemire in Zurich, Kan. She grew up in Plainville, Kan. and graduated from Plainville High School.

Brenda Joyce Grim, 74, passed away March 12, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. She was born Jan. 8, 1947 to Donovan E. and Mary K. (Winhold) Fishburn.   Brenda was raised in Ellsworth, Kan.  She lived in McPherson, Kan. for 40 years and made her home in Hesston, Kan.

At approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, our beloved Tasha Lynn Meitler was taken from us by a wrong way driver on K-81 Hwy. She passed away at the age of 30, just 32 days shy of her 31st birthday. No words can express the sorrow and pain the family is feeling and suffering.

Mary E. Schultz, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in Ellsworth, Kan. She was born Sep. 26, 1928 in Carneiro, Kan. to Everett and Isabel (Hall) Ostrom. Mary married Ferdinand “Bud” Schultz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Ellsworth County June 12, 1955.
