Thomas Jacob Foran passed away at the Hays Medical Center Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at the age of 74. Tom was born April 29, 1946 to William and Mary (Vopat) Foran in Ellsworth County, Kan. Tom was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County.

Mary Catherine Herzog, 85, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, in Ellsworth, Kan. She was born March 25, 1935 in Osage City, Kan. to David and Elizabeth (Gasser) King. Mary retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in Topeka, KS. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ellsworth.

Frances Elizabeth Stephenson died of pneumonia Feb. 17, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. She was 91 years old. Frannie was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Tillie and Jack Hardy. Her childhood was spent in Holyrood, Kan.

Gilbert J. Smischny, 65, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, in Ellsworth. He was born June 30, 1955 in Ellsworth to Gilbert G. and Elizabeth (Schultz) Smischny. Gilbert retired from the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174.

Tom (Tommy) Pickett Jr., 65 of Kanopolis, Kan., passed away Feb. 18, 2021 after losing his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. He was born July 3, 1955 at Asbury Hospital in Salina, Kan. to Thomas Pickett Sr. and Beatrice (Turner) Pickett.

Jimmy Edward Florian passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, Kan. at the age of 63. Jimmy was born to Charles and Vera (Warner) Florian April 18, 1957 in Moundridge, Kan.

Terrie Ruth Carr, 74, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, in Salina. She was born Jan. 26, 1947 in Bethany, Mo. to Charles R. and Ruby Elaine (Turpin) Cox.

Thomas Virgil Phelan, Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at John C. Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Phoenix at the age of 69. He was born Nov. 19, 1951 in Great Bend, Kan.   A midwestern man at heart, he grew up in the small town of Holyrood, Kan.

Herbert John Barr III, 67, died Jan. 30, 2021 in Ellsworth, Kan. John was born July 2, 1953 in Scott City, Kan. and lived most of his life in Kansas. He sold western hats under the trade name “Johnny Bingo.

Darrell Thrasher age 84, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 at the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, Kan. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Wilson High School Gymnasium. Private family services will be held at a later date.
