George Oliver Wagner, 87, of Brookville, Kan., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021. George was born Jan. 31, 1934, on the family farm west of Brookville, to the late Clara Mildred (Warta) and George E. Wagner.

Eleanor Avis Foster died Jan. 20, 2021 at the age of 75 as a result of an auto accident in Cleburne, Texas. Avis was born June 7, 1945 to Walter and Ida (Courtright) Hallagin. Avis spent her childhood in McDonald, Kan.; there she met her first husband Norman Snook.

Shirley Ann Turner Raney, 86, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, in Hays, Kan. She was born July 22, 1934 in Salina, Kan. to Bud and Lottie (Phelps) Turner. Shirley lived most of her life in Ellsworth, Kan. where she was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Betty M. (Jennrich) Soukup passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kan., at the age of 89. She was born Aug. 26, 1931 in Russell, Kan. to Frank Sr. and Violet (Heard) Jennrich. She was united in marriage to Henry Soukup in Russell, Kan. Aug. 6, 1958.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife, Betty Jean Melchert Rolfs of Ellsworth, Kan. With her loving family by her side, she peacefully and gently passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at the age of 93.

Christopher Sean Bosquez, 44, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, in Wichita Kan. Armed with quick wit and unparalleled charm, Christopher ‘Chris’ Bosquez will forever be remembered for his ability to bring joy.

Agnes ‘Donna’ Bartunek, 75, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at her home in Salina. She was born June 25, 1945 in Scott City, Kan. to Charles and Allie (Sutton) Watkins. Donna married William ‘Bill’ Bartunek in Scott City on March 31, 1963.

Juniata, Neb. resident, Deb (McLeod) Landsmann, 66, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at the Nebraska Medical Fred and Pamela Buffet Cancer Center, Omaha, due to complications of cancer. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan.

Howard Stephen Svaty, age 78, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, in Chanute, Kan. after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Howard was born Dec. 18, 1942 in Ellsworth, Kan. He started school in a one-room country schoolhouse and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1960.

Carol Anita Bergin, age 51 passed away Jan. 15, 2021 in Ellsworth, Kan.  She was born Aug. 23, 1969 to Edward and JoAnn (Langenberg) Bergin in Great Bend, Kan. Carol lived in Kansas until 1981. Carol graduated from St. Joseph High School, Omaha, Neb. in 1987. She was a resident of Omaha, Neb.
