Blue Ribbon School

HOLYROOD — For only the second time in 11 years, an Ellsworth County school has been selected as a Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education. Central Plains Elementary School in Holyrood is a Blue Ribbon School for 2020. Ellsworth Elementary School received the award in 2008.

Kanopolis Corner Store break-in under investigation

KANOPOLIS — The Ellsworth County Sheriff ’s Office is investigating a recent break-in at the Kanopolis Corner Store in Kanopolis. According to Sheriff Murray Marston, the crime took place sometime after the business closed Dec. 3. The break-in was discovered the next morning, Dec. 4.

County to change health care providers

Ellsworth County will switch providers for its employee health insurance for 2020. At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, a motion to have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas be the health insurance provider for 2020 was approved.
