Commissioners table burn ban decision for another week

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, the possibility of reinstating a county-wide burn ban was discussed, but no action was taken — yet.Instead, commissioners decided to take a wait and see attitude.

The prime topic of conversation at Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth City Council centered around the possibility of local traveling sports teams paying an annual $100 membership fee to use the gym at city hall.

Kanopolis City

KANOPOLIS — Kanopolis Fire Chief Dustin Neuman presented three bids for the new fire station to the City Council at its Jan. 11 meeting.The bids were — Escape Design, $296,550.

USD 112 Updated COVID-19 policy approved

HOLYROOD — Updated COVID-19 protocols were approved by the Central Plains USD 112 board of education Monday during the monthly meeting at Central Plains Elementary School in Holyrood.

After nine years as a council member — and more than two years as mayor — Mark Kennedy has passed the gavel of the Ellsworth city council to mayor-elect Dan Finnegan.Kennedy slid into the mayor's seat after Alan Stefek submitted his resignation Nov. 11, 2019 due to health reasons.
