Businesses benefit from CDBG grants

Five Ellsworth County businesses will benefit from $120,000 in grant assistance from the CDBG CV program. They are: • Kanopolis Drive In Theatre, Kanopolis — $19,001.40. • Katlyns Licensed Daycare, rural Wilson — $2,293.15. • Moly Manufacturing, Lorraine — $46,185.12.

In a presidential election year, Ellsworth County election officer Shelly Vopat would typically mail a couple hundred advance-by-mail ballots to potential voters for the primary. This year, she sent out 633. Of those 542 were returned to her office.

Central Plains moves ahead with school plan

Following about an hour of discussion Monday night, board members of the Central Plains USD 112 School District voted to approve a reopening plan for the 2020-21 school year. Under the plan, students wil return to their classrooms Aug 27, which is a week later than the district’s original Aug.
