Arleta Ann Manville, 77, of rural Valley Falls and Winchester, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at F.W. Huston Medical Center in Winchester. Arleta was born Sept. 20, 1948, in Ellsworth, Kan., the daughter of William and Della Achterberg Lohmann. She was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Kan., and a 1969 graduate of Fort Hays State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in home economics. She served as a Jefferson County extension agent from 19691982. She then served as a homemaker, mother, grandmother and farmer’s wife until her passing.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Nortonville, serving as a church organist for over 40 years. She served as a Winchester 4-H leader for many years and was a countywide 4-H leader in Jefferson County. Arleta was a 4-H judge throughout northeast Kansas and served as an Extension Council member for many years. She was also a member of Jefferson County Historical Society.

Arleta married William M. “Bill” Manville, her husband of 55 years, on Aug. 21, 1971, at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Kan. He survives at home. She is also survived by one son, Neil (Kristie) Manville, Valley Falls, Kan.; two daughters, Rachelle (Mitchel) Feldkamp, Winchester, Kan., and Camille ( Josh) Beckman, Ellsworth, Kan.; one brother, Vernon (Martha) Lohmann, Lincoln, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Brett (Amanda) Manville, Kylie (Matt) Stutz, Crystal Feldkamp, Ryan Feldkamp, Adie (Blake) Fowler, Calvin Manville, Lakyn Beckman, Brantley Beckman and Ashlyn Beckman; and five great-grandchildren, Emelie Manville, Brynne Stutz, Aria Manville, Lyndie Stutz and Reid Stutz. Arleta was preceded in death by an infant sister, Reva E. Lohmann, in 1942.

Arleta enjoyed gardening, especially her irises. She spent a lot of time teaching her children and grandchildren her many talents. Whether it was sewing, decorating cakes, leatherwork, stained glass or learning how to do a project talk or demonstration for 4-H, she loved teaching her skills and instilled in her family the importance to do them right. Arleta also looked forward to having coffee with her coffee group in Oskaloosa, Kan., whenever she could.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug.

31, 2026, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Nortonville, with the Rev. Richard Lally officiating.

Burial will be at Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to F.W. Huston Medical Center, St.

Matthew Lutheran Church or Jefferson County Home Health and Hospice.
