(1942-2026)

Vivian June Meier, 84, passed away Sunday, Aug.

30, 2026, at her home in Lincoln, Kan. She was born the first of three children on April 29, 1942, in Belle Plaine, Kan., to Rinaldo and Neva ( June) Lawless. She grew up on the family farm outside of Belle Plaine.

Vivian moved to Lincoln in 1964 to become the Lincoln County Extension Home Economist after completing college at Kansas State University. She married Clifford Martin “Cliff ” Meier at St. John Lutheran Church near Lincoln on Jan. 2, 1971. She was later employed as an income maintenance worker for the Kansas State Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) for Lincoln and Ellsworth counties. For a short time, she was the local manager of the Town and County Annex, a women’s clothing store in Lincoln. Following the store’s closing, Vivian was a deputy clerk in the office of the Lincoln County Clerk of the District Court and was a clerk/cashier at Lincoln Grocery for a number of years. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the Lincoln and Tescott schools and closed out her career as the Lincoln County Senior Center manager before retiring in 2013.

Growing up on the family farm, Vivian began a lifelong passion for gardening. She could often be found outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens or in the kitchen canning. She also enjoyed being active in her community, attending many community events.

Vivian is survived by her daughter Marsha Drennan (Mark); grandchildren Mattie and Marek Drennan; sister Charlotte Allen (George); brother Eldon Lawless (Vickie); as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 55 years, Cliff.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Hall Chapel. Family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln with burial following at Lincoln Cemetery.
