Continuing success

As 2023 keeps moving at what seems like a record pace, I continue to be proud of the work I am seeing by our teachers, staff and students.Our schools and classrooms are full of great learning — a sight that makes me happy and so very proud to be a part of USD 327.

J.H. Robbins Memorial Library

Iwould like to take this time we have together to briefly review what we have at the library that maybe you didn’t know, or, if you’re like me, forgot.First, cake pans, but not only cake pans — we also have candy molds, cookie cutters and even an electric balloon pump.

Signs of spring

Six more weeks of winter for 2023. At least that’s the prediction based on a rodent in Pennsylvania.My 7-year-old daughter has recently taken to studying calendars. She can tell you when all of the important, and slightly less important, days are.

Respecting sports traditions

As the wife of a former sports page designer/editor, I am fully-versed in the superstitions surrounding sports.My husband has “his” teams, and he loyally cheers for them — in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. It’s a tiny bit like our marriage vows.

Update on USD 327 strategic plan The USD 327 Board of Education met Jan. 30, for a second special board work session as part of our Listen, Learn, Engage series that has been formulated to help in creating a new strategic plan for the school district.

The political atmosphere in the runup to the 1860 election was filled with an intrigue that demonstrated the divisions that had simmered since the founding of the country.

Rural minds matter

Farmers and ranchers are some of the most resilient people I know. They weather incredible odds (pun intended), from droughts to floods, fire, hail, blizzards and more. This doesn’t even touch the volatile input costs, family dynamics, inflation and increased regulations we are seeing.
