Cowtown Days, or the lack thereof, has become a hot topic. We are encouraged by city council’s encouragement of discussion of retaining Rhythm and Reels, while keeping the option for residents to embrace Cowtown Days in a different iteration.

Judith Ann “Judy” Siemsen, 79, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, in Great Bend, Kan. She was born March 27, 1945, in Wichita, Kan. On Nov. 18, 1946, she was adopted by Leo and Renata (Schulz) Mehl. Judy married Robert Siemsen on Oct. 28, 1979, in Holyrood, Kan.

Loretta Schneider, Emporia, Kan., died Nov. 28, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor. She was 86 years old.Loretta was born on Dec. 21, 1937, in Stafford, Kan., the daughter of Clifford and Adaline (Rush) Beagley.
