JV tennisThe junior varsity girls’ tennis season was a huge success. With grit and determination, the talented team overcame setbacks to have an 8-1 record.The team had two seniors, Emma Salyers and Rebekah Vague, who both had a 19-6 record.

The Bearcat football season came to a close against the Norton Bluejays in the sectional round of playoffs Nov. 10 when the Cats lost 20-6 at home.“Winning two playoff rounds and the third nine-win season is something these players can always look fondly back at,” Head Coach Josh Homolka said.

Football team reaches sectional playoffs for first time in 36 yearsGARDEN PLAIN — The now No. 4-ranked Ellsworth Bearcats had their most exciting game this season against the Garden Plain Owls, narrowly winning 34-31 Nov. 3.

The Ellsworth Bearcats crushed the Haven Wildcats 42-0 in their first playoff game Oct. 27 at home. The team bounced back after the first loss of the season against Southeast of Saline the week before, and exceeded expectations on the field.

The Bearcat volleyball team finished their season with an even 18-18 record after battling through their final week of play.Sub-State Oct. 21On the last day of the season, Ellsworth competed in the sub-state tournament in Halstead Oct. 21. Ranked as the fifth seed, the Cats took on the No.

Ending the Ellsworth football team’s seven- game winning streak, the Southeast of Saline Trojans came to town Oct. 20 and beat the Bearcats, 30-0, bringing the Trojans’ record to 8-0 and the Cats’ to 7-1.

The Bearcat cross country team competed at the 3A regional meet Oct. 21 at Lake Barton Trails for a chance to make it to the state meet.Bearcat runners performed well and multiple athletes saw personal records, with others coming close.

The Central Plains Oiler volleyball team competed Oct. 17 at a home tourney with Pratt, Plainville and LaCrosse.Central Plains defeated Plainville 22-25, 25-23 and25-22. The Oilers also defeated LaCrosse 25-21, 20-25 and 25-12, but fell to Pratt 25-18, 24-26 and 25-13.

Football team faces off against undefeated SESFor high school football fans, this season has been an interesting one. For USD 327 fans, the Bearcats have been on a roll and included on that small list of undefeated teams.Also on that list is the Bearcats’ upcoming opponent, Southeast of Saline.

The cross country team competed in their league meet Oct. 12 at the Lakeside High School Invitational, Downs.While other schools ran at the meet, all NCAA league teams competed, so league placings were considered, as well as overall finishes. One major challenge for the runners was the weather.
