100 hole golf marathon

Two men played 100 holes of golf Friday in memory of Mark Cunningham.“Growing up, dad and I played golf almost every single day,” Mark Cunningham II said of his father, who died Sept. 23, 2004, from stomach cancer. “He always made time to golf every day. It was always something he made fun for me.

CPHS graduate to participate in Annual 8 Man All Star Games

BELOIT — A recent graduate of Central Plains High School will suit up for the 37th Annual Kansas 8 Man All Star Games which will be played in Beloit on Saturday, June 11.Cole Lamatsch, Central Plains, has been selected for the Division II West Squad.The Division I game will be held at 10 a.m.

Bearcats, Oilers shine at state track

WICHITA — Track and Field team members from both Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School and Central Plains Junior-Senior High School did well May 27 and 28 during the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s state track and field meet in Wichita.

Turnipseed qualifies for State with Javelin toss

PHILLIPSBURG — Ellsworth High School Track and Field Team member Kylan Turnipseed broke her own school record in the javelin May 19 during the Regional Track and Field Meet at Phillipsburg to qualify for State.Turnipseed threw the javelin 131,’ 6” to set a new EHS record and take third at Regionals.

Three EHS Bearcats fail to qualify for state golf

The Ellsworth High School Varsity Golf Team’s Rowdy Dunn was once again a standout May 10, during the NCAA Leagu Tournament hosted by Ellsworth.Dunn shot an 88 to take eighth place in what EHS Golf Team Coach Kevin Haxton described as a “very difficult” tournament.

Kaden Davis visits KMS to talk football

KANOPOLIS — Ellsworth’s Kaden Davis, who accepted an offer to play for the Denver Broncos on April 30, visited Kanopolis Middle School on May 5. He spent more than an hour talking to fifth and sixth grade students.“It was all the kids were talking about,” principal Kristy Rodriguez said.
