Dragons crush Chase for Homecoming win

WILSON — The Wilson Dragons Varsity Football Team drove for 344 yards in total offense Friday to earn a Homecoming victory against the Chase Kats, 56-6. The Dragons dominated the first and second quarter scoring beginning in the first with a 44 yard scamper by Cooper Weinhold for a touchdown.

Bearcat runners take first at Lyons

Last Tuesday, the Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School cross country teams competed at the Lyons Invitational. It was a great day to run, and we competed against three other schools that had enough runners to qualify as teams on the boys varsity side.

Weinhold leads Wilson in win over Cougars

WILSON — Senior Cooper Weinhold scampered for 298 yards on 32 carries and 7 touchdowns to lead the Wilson Dragons Football Team to a 50-46 victory at home Sept. 25 against the Otis-Bison Cougars.

Bearcats lose on the road to Beloit

BELOIT — The Ellsworth Bearcats traveled to Beloit to face the Trojans last Friday night. The ‘Cats came up short with a 48-20 loss. The Bearcat offense showed development throughout the game. Beloit began with possession of the football.

Marquette Thunder on the Smoky

The road leading into Marquette was alive with motorcycle riders Saturday on their way into Marquette for the town’s annual Thunder on the Smoky. Activities were limited this year by COVID-19, but everyone still seemed to have a good time.

Ellsworth Lady Bearcats Tennis takes second

HESSTON — The Ellsworth High School Lady Bearcats Tennis Team placed second with a total of 23 points in the Sept. 22 Hesston High School Tennis Invitational in Hesston.

Lady O’s take Russell Invitational

The Mean Green Machine is back — or at least it was Saturday in Russell. The top-ranked Lady Oiler volleyball team emerged from a 2-week quarantine only to suffer losses to ranked teams from Nickerson and Ellinwood on Sept. 12.

Dragons crush Tescott

TESCOTT — During an away game Sept. 18 at Tescott, the Wilson Dragons varsity football team defeated the Tescott Trojans 70-22. In the passing department, Wilson was 5 of 9 for 139 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception. The longest pass was for 50 yards.

Central Plains shuts out Otis-Bison, 46-0

Coach Chris Steiner and his Central Plains Oilers varsity football team notched one in the win column Friday with a 46-0 pounding of Otis-Bison. Offensively, the Oilers were 6 of 8 in the passing department for 114 yards and zero interceptions.
