Bearcats lose on the road to Beloit

BELOIT — The Ellsworth Bearcats traveled to Beloit to face the Trojans last Friday night. The ‘Cats came up short with a 48-20 loss. The Bearcat offense showed development throughout the game. Beloit began with possession of the football.

Marquette Thunder on the Smoky

The road leading into Marquette was alive with motorcycle riders Saturday on their way into Marquette for the town’s annual Thunder on the Smoky. Activities were limited this year by COVID-19, but everyone still seemed to have a good time.

Ellsworth Lady Bearcats Tennis takes second

HESSTON — The Ellsworth High School Lady Bearcats Tennis Team placed second with a total of 23 points in the Sept. 22 Hesston High School Tennis Invitational in Hesston.

Lady O’s take Russell Invitational

The Mean Green Machine is back — or at least it was Saturday in Russell. The top-ranked Lady Oiler volleyball team emerged from a 2-week quarantine only to suffer losses to ranked teams from Nickerson and Ellinwood on Sept. 12.

Dragons crush Tescott

TESCOTT — During an away game Sept. 18 at Tescott, the Wilson Dragons varsity football team defeated the Tescott Trojans 70-22. In the passing department, Wilson was 5 of 9 for 139 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception. The longest pass was for 50 yards.

Central Plains shuts out Otis-Bison, 46-0

Coach Chris Steiner and his Central Plains Oilers varsity football team notched one in the win column Friday with a 46-0 pounding of Otis-Bison. Offensively, the Oilers were 6 of 8 in the passing department for 114 yards and zero interceptions.

TOUGH NIGHT FOR BEARCATS

The Ellsworth Bearcats varsity football team was defeated 42-0 Sept. 18 in an away game at Southeast of Saline. Ellsworth had just eight first downs during the game, verses 19 for the Trojans. Above, the Bearcats attempt to move the ball against the Trojans.

Bearcats lose gridiron home opener 52-6

In the first game of the season, the Ellsworth Bearcats lost to the Republic County Buffaloes 52-6. The Buffs started the game off strong and never let up. Republic County won the coin toss and elected to receive. Ellsworth would start with possession in the second half.

Lady ‘Cats go 1-4 at Ellsworth Invitational Volleyball Tourney

The Ellsworth High School Lady Bearcats Varsity Volleyball team’s overall record went to 3-6 (2-0 in the NCAA) Saturday after a series of games against Central Plains, Ellinwood, Sacred Heart, Republic County and Nickerson during the Ellsworth Invitational Varsity Round Robin Volleyball Tournament.
