Moore resigns from medical center board of directors

The Ellsworth County Medical Center board of directors is looking for a new board member. Tammy Moore, who had been on the board six months, announced her resignation at the end of the Jan. 15 board meeting, effective immediately.

Larry Pacey to celebrate 80th birthday

Larry Pacey of Ellsworth, will celebrate his 80th birthday Jan. 27. Larry was born Jan. 27, 1940 in Clay Center, Kan. He moved to Ellsworth in 1948 with his parents and sister, Phyliss. He is owner of Pacey Construction Co II.

Thyfault receives national scholarship Wilson High School student Brandalyn Thyfault is one of 548 students nationwide and only seven in Kansas to receive a scholarship for $10,000 from the Horatio Alger Association. Over 35,000 students applied for the scholarship nationwide.

Community center estimate comes in at $545,000

At the Jan. 15 meeting of the Ellsworth County Medical Center board of directors, chief executive officer Andrew Bair offered preliminary estimates on the cost of a proposed 8,000 square foot “Physical Medicine Outpatient Gym”, which could be used by the community as a wellness center.

Chamber prepares for annual meeting

For the first time, the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize a Business or Organization of the Year at its annual meeting. As in years past, the chamber also will hand out awards to a Citizen of the Year and Junior Citizen of the Year.
