Three bid on county bridge work

The Ellsworth County commissioners opened three sealed bids Monday from companies wishing to be selected to demolish and replace the bridge west of 11th Road on Old 40 Highway next year. The three companies and their bids are: L&M Contracting, Great Bend, $773,021.

Farm Bill meeting planned for Oct. 1

The Ellsworth County Farm Service Agency and the Midway Extension District are teaming up to host two producer meetings on the 2018 Farm Bill. The first meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Ellsworth Golf Course. The second meeting will be at 7 p.m. Oct.

Water rates on the rise in Holyrood

HOLYROOD — No action was taken at the Sept. 16 meeting of the Holyrood City Council after an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel.

Lorraine renews trash contract; prices remain the same

LORRAINE — The cost of trash service in Lorraine will remain the same for the next year. After meeting on Sept. 21 with Tony and Christa Lamia, owners of Slechta Enterprises LLC, the Lorraine City Council renewed the trash contract for one year.

Fly Kansas Air Tour schedule announced

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s Division of Aviation will host the sixth annual Fly Kansas Air Tour on Sept. 26 to 28. KDOT has partnered with the Kansas Commission on Aerospace Education (KCAE) to promote aviation and economic growth.
