Blast Off!

Ellsworth is marking the Fourth of July in a big way this year with a day full of fun, and a night filled with fireworks, during the annual Star-Spangled Splash & Blast celebration. The event is planned for Saturday, June 29.

Adecade of helping Ellsworth County cancer patients was celebrated Friday as survivors, team members and the public gathered at Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School’s Shanelec football field for the Ellsworth County Cancer Fund’s 10th annual Triathlon.

Student Stars

Klein recognized for academics Emma Klein of Ellsworth is among the students at Colby Community College to achieve academic distinction for the spring 2019 semester. To earn a place on a CCC honor roll, students must complete 12 or more credit hours and have no failing grades.

Students receive VFW honors

On May 31, the Ellsworth VFW Auxiliary No. 6485 honored several students with VFW honors for the year. These include: • VFW Voice of Democracy Contest — Noah Erichsen, first, Ellsworth High School; Branson Schulte, second, EHS; Josiah Bolton, third, EHS.

Roof collapses at Holyrood American Legion

HOLYROOD — A 70-plus year-old Holyrood landmark that has been the venue for countless polka dances, weddings, public gatherings, American Legion meetings and senior citizen meals — the Holyrood American Legion building — has been rendered unusable by Mother Nature.
