Joan Wilson, born Oct. 11, 1928, passed peacefully Oct. 19, 2024, at the age of 96. Growing up in the Ash Creek area outside Ellsworth, she was the eldest of Harry and Jessie (Bailey) Long’s five children.

Deborah Lynn (Siemsen) Volavka, 67, passed away Oct. 12, 2024, in rural Sumner County. She was born Oct. 12, 1957, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Robert and Jo Ann (Strube) Siemsen.

Judy K. Toman passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, in Ellsworth, Kan. She was born May 27, 1942, to Howard and Alice (O’Neal) Stephen. She grew up in Ellsworth, where she spent summers swimming, lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons to all ages.

LaVerna Stroede passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, in Belleville, Kan., at the age of 102. She was born to Frank Panzer and Rosalie (Bohl) Panzer on April 17, 1922, in Ellsworth, Kan. She married William Stroede on Jan. 18, 1945.

Maxine (Schwerdtfeger) Rogers-Prewett entered heaven on Oct. 19, 2024. She was born in Ellsworth, Kan., on Oct. 9, 1931, to Otto and Dora (Panzer) Schwerdtfeger.

Janice Kay (Miller) Miska, 83, of Hoisington, Kan., and formerly of Russell, Kan., passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at Via Christa St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kan.Janice was born Sept. 4, 1941, in Ellsworth, Kan. She was the daughter of Steven and Ima (Grise) Miller.

Gary R. Hunter, 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, in Hays, Kan. “Hunter,” as he was fondly known, was born June 3, 1940, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Harold and Harriette (Krupp) Hunter. Gary married Betty Matoush in Wilson, Kan., on Feb. 23, 1963.

Grace Caroline Bohnen, 19, of Wilson, Kan., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., with her loving family by her side.Grace was born Nov. 17, 2004, in Wichita, Kan.

Arlene Marie Rolfs, 97, of Geneseo, Kan., passed away Oct. 8, 2024, at Riverview Estates, Marquette, Kan. She was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Otis, Kan., the daughter of William and Marie (Hergert) Lebsack. Arlene resided in Geneseo since 1947, formerly of Otis.

Dylan T. McNutt, 23, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, in Ellsworth County, Kan.
