Setting the record straight

The word on the high plains of Kansas after the great blizzard of 1886 was that “January first was the last of August,” but that wasn’t entirely accurate. The true story of August Johnson, the man who froze to death in the storm, was later recorded in “Pioneer Remembrances” by Mildred Cass Beason.

A very slick trick

The following story could easily be made into a full-blown historic narrative. The twists and turns make for exciting reading worthy of a book. Newspapers across the United States suddenly exploded with the mystery of the “Frisco Robbery” that occurred just outside of St. Louis, Mo., on Oct.

Wilson student seeks answers

I am a student at Wilson High School expressing my concern and opinion about my future. I have gone to school at Wilson my entire life and it breaks my heart, along with lots of my peers, knowing that Wilson High School will no longer exist after this school year.

Recycling center important, swift solution should be found

A flurry of activity transpired Friday at the recycling center, where residents waited in line to deposit goods into the red containers. The levels inside steadily rose throughout the day as a flatbed filled with recycling outside was prepped and ready to depart.
