Bearcat baseball falls short at regionals

HESSTON — On May 16, the Ellsworth Bearcats competed in the first round of regionals. The Cats were seeded fifth in the bracket with a 9-11 record. Their first game was against Sylvan-Lucas Unified/ Lincoln and the Cats defeated the Mustangs 7-5.

Three Bearcats advance to state track

GARDEN CITY — On May 19 the Ellsworth Bearcat track team headed to their regional meet to try to qualify athletes for the state competition.To qualify, runners and throwers had to place in the top four in their division.

Ellsworth softball season ends at regionals

LYONS — The Bearcat softball team finished their season at the regional tournament May 16. Their first game ended in a victory over the Ellinwood Eagles, 11-0, but the team lost the second game to Hoisington/ Central Plains 6-0, ending their season.

Bearcat baseball finishes regular season strongOn May 8, the Bearcat baseball team hosted their last home game of the season. The Cats had an amazing night against the Buffs of Republic County, taking the first game win, 15-1.The Cats secured the victory during the first inning with 10 runs.

ELLINWOOD — The Ellsworth Bearcat track team competed and brought home many individual and team victories in their last regular season meet May 5. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams took third place overall.

Ellsworth golf competes well May 4 at home

The Ellsworth varsity golf team hosted a meet May 4.Eight schools participated with 41 golfers. Four Ellsworth athletes competed — juniors Sam Karst and Avery Holecek, senior Izaac Vasquez and sophomore Billy Duncan, coached by Head Coach Darin Holecek.

Baseball falls to SESThe Bearcat baseball team had a difficult night May 2 as they fell to the Southeast of Saline Trojans 4-3 on the Trojans’ home turf.The Trojan bats were strong and continued into game two, ending with a 12-2 win for Southeast.
